Hello Lisa: Congratulation that you will give birth to the second baby soon !!
And I am also happy to know that your mother was born in Hongkong, I live in Guangzhou which nearby Hongkong, only 2hours to Hongkong by train!! So I can speak Cantonese and Mandarin!!
I really really want to go to UK as an au pair ! And I see you would like an au pair from China!
But we checked with Britain embassy in Guangzhou and website,We found that "Nationals of China are not eligible for entry to the United Kingdom under the Au pair scheme or working holidaymaker " =.=
That is why I decide to change my choice to Netherlands !
However,I still want to keep in contact with you! Maybe we can find a good way to solve it ^_^ !!If you have any idea about that,do pls inform me !!
Attached some photos of my life,I think you will know more about me from it ! If it is OK, pls also send some photos about your family !! Thank you !!
Best regards!
Meimei

Meimei,
Thanks for your mail. I have attached some photos of our family - Roger, myself and Toby (Toby is yonger in some photos!).
I think the best way to solve it is for you to come across on a student Visa. You would have to study for a minimum of 20 hours per week (an English course for example). We would say we are sponsoring you and would pay for the course. There are many colleges that do these kind of courses - there are many foreign students in London!!
I have some questions for you:
1) when would you be able to start?
2) how many hour per week would you be willing to work?
3) what hourly rate would you be looking for (in £GBP)?
We would ideally need you to work 4 days/week (Mon-Thurs) so you would have to study perhaps Friday and Saturday and one evening in the week. I dont work on Friday so would look after Toby then.
Regards
Lisa

What a lovely angel !!!!!
Dearest Lisa, I am very cheerful with your suggestion !! I will study the HK visa again and prepare my document !!
Pls find my honest answer as below :
1)Actually, I stand by to leave at any time, I already bought some books about children's song, story (chinese style) !! I also bought a chinese style gift to Mom.I am still thinking about what should I buy for Dad.it is helpful that if you can give somes idea ^_^
But my family want me to leave after our Spring festival( 06-Feb-2008)! You know,Chinese think much of family reunion in Spring festival !! So it is perfect that if I can start from 18-Feb-08 !!
2)30hours per week is reasonable! But I don't mind to look after Toby in my free time if you are busy,as it must be happy time !!!
3) If you can find a free-pay school or you really can pay the course for me, then the pocket money is not very important to me !! I can accept the lowest standard, around £200/month!!
Here is my MSN : ! We can have a further talk on line if you want !!
Best regards!
Meimei

MeiMei,
Thank you for your kind words.
We would ideally like someone to start sooner in December, but could pay for flights back for the Spring festival. Let me know if that is possible?
30 hours is possible as I do not work Friday so it would be Mon-Thurs (Toby would go to nursery for 2 afternoons so it would be good if you can do the housework then).
The money is fine and we can pay extra if you want to do baby sitting in the evenings sometimes.
I would like to call you to speak to you in person. When is the best time to call and what number?
Regards
Lisa

Hello Memei,
It very good to talk to you today. I have done some investigation and there is a list of registered schools that you can use on this web site,
Thank you for this information and it is great that you can meet.
I have lots of meetings when I am over there, so I will only be able to meet for a short while, maybe we could have lunch together. I also hope you are not incurring too much cost in the trip, I thought the train was 2 hours and I didn't realise you would have to get a flight.
Because I am working and am with collegues I have to stay in the hotel below, which I think is in the financial district.
Union Square, Shanghai Pudong 506 Shang Cheng Road Pudong Shanghai, 200120 China
I am very much looking forward to meeting you, but please do not go to too much trouble and stay for 3 days for me, as I am concerned I will only be able to meet you briefly. Do you have other things you would like to do in Shanghai?
Kind Regards
Lisa

Hi Maymay,
I will check out the restaurants in my guide book and suggest a place for us to meet before I leave on Thursday.
I have answered your questions below. I have included my current address below, I will send my new address when the contract has been signed, which will be from 8 December.
The first question is very difficult to answer as the reason why we are sponsoring you, is so you can be here, but I am guessing that is not a good answer for VISA application. I suggest something like:
"You are a friend of the family and we are providing you with accomodation and spending money so that you can learn english and experience english culture, in return for help around the house. The sponsors mother is from Hong Kong."
See the other answers below and let me now if you need anything further I will also get a letter from my company re my occupation and proof of earnings.
I have put that we will give you £200, but in fact we will give you £330 per month, as I think you are only allowed to work 20 hours per the government and we will need you to work more, also I do not want it to look like this is purely the reason you are coming over as it may make the application more difficult.
I have roughly worked out your hours. Toby will be in nursery 3 afternoons a week (1pm - 6pm) ( I have changed this from 2 days). You will need to be with him from 8am on these 3 days until you drop him off at nursery at 1pm and pick him up at 6pm. There will be 1 day when you will be with him all day. We will also need you to do the cleaning (keep the house tidy, washing, ironing, cleaning and cooking) as we discussed, this could be when you have Toby and he is sleeping or when he is at Nursery, and very occassionally we would like you to baby sit in the evenings. If the hours get too much we will pay for you extra. We will look after Toby all day Friday, Saturday and Sundays so these will be your free days (unless something turns up when we may need your help) and of course we will look after him in the evenings (unless we are both going out and we may ask you to baby sit in advance).
Thanks!
Lisa
